Purpose
For those who are flying big wingsuits (bigger than a Freak, e.g., C-Race or Vampire), or are highly-loaded and inducing speed on landing that is approaching your wingsuit's freefall speed.
CYPRES' Approach
10 seconds after deployment, the wingsuit AAD should switch from the wingsuit activation thresholds to the canopy activation thresholds. To indicate that it has successfully switched over, the AAD comes with a wireless speaker to go in your helmet's audible pocket. At that point, it uses whatever setting you have selected (Expert, Speed, etc).
Safety Concerns and Tradeoffs
It is a narrow product that adds an additional point of failure, for a very specific group.
- You have to rely on the in-helmet speaker to tell you which mode you are in.
- You now have to juggle maintaining the speaker and trust the wireless connection.
- The speaker occupies an audible pocket.
- You may be able to wedge the speaker somewhere else in the lining.
Obtaining
While the CYPRES website reads "temporarily out of stock", they are still built by request.
If, after weighing all these tradeoffs, you are still interested in purchasing, you will have to contact CYPRES directly and make your case as to why you need one. You will rarely find one used, and only CYPRES manufactures wingsuit AADs. Email info@cypres.aero with the subject "WSC".
